What a big door! Not surprising really when you realise that the body of the C-2100UZ is shared with the E-100RS which supports both SmartMedia and CompactFlash.. When you open the door to the C-2100UZ there's certainly a feeling that something's missing.. (The CF slot ;)
I was a little disappointed by how much the door flexes, it doesn't feel fragile (not brittle) but I'm sure a slightly different design would have yielded a stronger construction.

Connectivity city! The C-2100UZ has no less than six connection terminals in and around the connection compartment door on the left side of the camera. These consist of:

On the base of the camera we'll find the oddly (and sadly) positioned plastic tripod mount. Why oh why couldn't Olympus have put the tripod mount on that big flat plate under the lens barrel or further back where the label is now? That would have put it in line with the lens and focal plane... |

Supplied with the camera is the now standard Olympus Infrared remote control. It can be used to control the camera in record mode (zoom and take shot) and for image playback (browsing and zooming images). |

To the top right of this picture you can see the red autofocus assist lamp, this is new to Olympus digital cameras, it's designed to assist the cameras focus system in low light situations and appears to work quite well it has a quoted range of 0.3 to 3.0 m (approx. 1 - 10 ft). |
