Record mode display

Here, an example of information overlaid in Program Auto Exposure mode.

Exposure details across the top of the display, AF focus (and spot metering) brackets in the center, remaining frames (125) and a bar chart of the availability of internal buffer space.

In this case we have set an exposure compensation of +0.3 EV.

We've already half-pressed the shutter release and are ready to shoot. Notice the green focus confirmation dot has appeared in the top left, this would blink if a good focus couldn't be attained. The flash symbol would blink if their was insufficient light or a risk of blur due to camera shake. After the shot is taken a brief preview of the image is shown, note the small indicator in the buffer space bar chart, that will disappear as soon as the image is flushed out to he SmartMedia card (why can't all cameras give an indication of internal buffer space?)

Record Mode: Manual Focus

When switching to manual focus a "ruler" appears on the right side of the display, pressing the up / down arrows on the 4-way controller focuses, during focusing the center portion of the display is magnified (to check focus more easily). As soon as you've finished focusing the display returns to a full size preview.

Playback display

Switching to play mode immediately displays the last image taken. Depending on the previously chosen display mode (press the INFO button) you'll either see this (clean image, no info overlaid) Basic information overlaid, folder / filename, frame number, image quality / size, date / time.

Detailed information overlaid, folder / filename, exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, white balance, focus mode, frame number, image quality / size, date / time.

Pushing the zoom lever towards Wide will "zoom out" to a thumbnail view (selectable 4, 9 or 16 thumbs) which can be navigated using the 4-way controller.

Or pushing the zoom controller towards Tele magnifies into the image by 1.5x, 2.0x, 2.5x or 3.0x. Use the 4-way controller to scroll around this magnified view.
