Storage Card connection
The Digital Album's PCMCIA slot is in the top of the unit. To be able
to connect storage cards (other than PCMCIA type) you must use the relevant
PCMCIA adapter, shown below are several different storage formats with
their associated PCMCIA adapters (none properly inserted).

Controls
 |
On the front of the Digital Album are five buttons which are used
to control the unit through a simple menu system displayed on the
main LCD panel. Menu navigation is carried out using the up and
down arrows and the center power/select button. The far left button
selects video mode, the far right button is used to alter the LCD
contrast.
|

LCD Panel Display
The LCD panel itself is capable of displaying six lines of text as well
as a row of icons along the bottom which indicate battery status, charging,
transfer and connectivity. Below are described the various functions and
associated displays.
 |
 |
| The Nixvue logo is displayed at startup. |
This is the main menu, from here you can copy card
contents, verify the last transfer, enable the Video-out mode, check
disk space or power the unit off. |
 |
 |
| Selecting the copy option (with a card inserted).
The unit will copy the whole contents of the storage card, be they
JPEG, MPEG, RAW, TIFF, whatever. |
The Digital Album then copies all the files on the
card to its hard disk. A five level status indicator provides feedback
as to the status of the transfer. |
 |
 |
| After the copy is complete the Digital Album confirms
the number of files copied. |
If you wish you may compare the files on to the
hard disk against those on the storage card to re-confirm the copy
status. |
 |
 |
| After a verify you can choose to erase the card
contents (a nice shortcut to having to re-format the card in-camera
each time). |
Again, a confirmation is displayed after the card
has been erased. |
 |
 |
| Here is an example of what happens if you try to
copy an empty card... At least it's that intelligent. |
Checking disk space returns the amount of available
storage in MegaBytes. |
 |
 |
| Pressing the far left button allows you to change
the video-out format (PAL or NTSC). |
The LCD screen contrast can be altered by first
pressing the far right button and using the up and down arrows. |
