At ISO 800 both cameras are showing large amount of noise and are giving up still more detail in the name of noise reduction. The Canon is doing a better job of suppressing chroma noise, with blacks becoming grainy but remaining neutral. By contrast, the Nikon is showing chroma noise, with mottled, multi-colored blacks and its attempts at reigning-in luminance noise are having a destructive effect on fine detail, and there's noticeable loss of saturation too. Neither result is particularly useful for anything but small prints of social snaps, but then you could say this about just about every compact camera on the market over ISO 400.
