Nikon D70 vs. Nikon D100
Studio scene comparison (ISO 200,
JPEG)
- Nikon D70: Nikkor 50 mm F1.4 D, Manual Exposure, ISO 200, JPEG
Large/Fine,
Manual WB, Default Parameters, Self-timer
- Nikon D100: Nikkor 50 mm F1.4 D, Manual Exposure, ISO 200,
JPEG Large/Fine,
Manual WB, Default Parameters, Self-timer
This is a very interesting comparison because it really
does show the improvements Nikon has made in regards to image sharpness
since the D100. We know that the D70's CCD has a weaker anti-alias filter
and thus higher frequencies (finer details) are captured, however the
side effect as we have seen are the increased possibility of moiré
artifacts. Overall however it's fair to say that the D70 is a fairly significant
step forward in image sharpness and detail from the D100.
