Play Menu

The play menu is a simple enough affair (compared to the record menus anyway ;) all the options fit onto one page, in addition to this there's also a dedicated setup page.

Play Menu Summary Map

The map below is a summary of menu options in play mode, click on the menu option heading to jump to more detailed information about the option or simply scroll down to browse through the options.

Play Menu

Delete

The delete option allows you to delete more than one image at a time, you can choose to do so by selecting images on a 2 x 3 thumbnail view, delete all images (excluding protected images) or reset transfer / print flags which have been set on images.

Selected Images - Enters a 2 x 3 thumbnail view which allows you to select images for deletion.
All Images - Deletes all images on the storage card except those marked as protected or hidden, folders are maintained
Reset Trns/Print - Resets any flags for DPOF printing or Auto Transfer from all images

Folders

The Folders menu allows you to select the active folder (for play actions), create, rename and delete folders on the storage card. By default the camera will create one NIKON folder, simply select "Options" to create a new folder, this is useful for categorising your photos or separating them.

Options - Create new folder / rename folder (uses this text input page, max 5 characters)
All Folders - Play actions (such as delete all) will be carried out across all folders
NIKON - select this folder (more folders would be listed below here)

Slide Show

Starts a slideshow display of images on storage card / in currently selected folder:

Start - Begin slideshow, each image is shown on the LCD monitor, the delay before showing the next image is defined by Frame Intvl (below)
Frame Int(er)v(a)l - Allows you to select a frame interval of 2, 3 (default), 5 or 10 seconds

Protect

Enters a 2 x 3 thumbnail view used to mark images as protected, when an image is protected the key icon will appear in the bottom corner of the display when viewing the image. Once an image is protected it can not be deleted except by a CF card format.

Hide Image

Enters a 2 x 3 thumbnail view used to mark images as hidden, when an image is hidden it does not appear in play mode either browsing or a thumbnail view. Once an image is hidden it can not be deleted except by a CF card format.

Print Set

Enters a 2 x 3 thumbnail view used to mark images to be printed, use the up and down cursors on the 4-way direction pad to select the number of copies of each image, when an image is selected for printing the printer icon will appear in the bottom corner of the display when viewing the image.

Auto Transfer

A new feature of Nikon View 4 (supplied with the 995) is the ability to automatically transfer images as soon as the camera is connected to the computer, you can choose to auto transfer all images or just selected images.
