Battery Compartment

	In the base of the handgrip is the battery compartment, again another very solid piece of design which incorporates a sliding lock which must be pushed upwards (red dot showing) before sliding the door open. Noteably this is the only piece of plastic which makes up the exterior of the camera.

Compact Flash Compartment

	Here you can see the compact flash compartment, protected by a rubberised door which "pushes" into place, the new flip/push eject button (same as PCMCIA ejectors in laptops) works efficiently, ejecting the CF card without any strain on the card. Note, this is a CF Type I slot and will not take CF type II cards (such as the 340MB IBM microdrive).

My gripe about the CF compartment door is that on occasions it would flop open (there's really nothing to hold it closed other than friction).

In the images above you can also see the badly positioned tripod mount (although, with this compact design and bottom compartment layout there's hardly anywhere else to put it). So, unfortunately, when the CP950 is on a tripod or tripod quick release (such as Manfrotto tripods utilise) you cannot eject the CF card or change the batteries without unscrewing the tripod mount. Shame.

Connectors

	Shown left, the video connector (cable included, output varies PAL/NTSC by region) for connecting to a TV or VCR and DC power (AC adapter not included, 6.5V +ve center).
External Nikon Speedlight Flash connector (with protective plastic cap removed).	Here shown the serial RS232/RS432 cable (included) connector. Up to 115Kbp/s on a PC and 230Kbp/s on a Mac

Shame Nikon didn't decide to go with USB, serial is almost pointless for a camera which generates 500KB-1MB image files...

Included Accessories

Supplied with the camera is this very attractive soft padded case (ahem). Actually an improvement over the previous Coolpix 9xx case, has several "hard" sections internally and a belt strap on the side (although I found the 950 just a little too big and a little too heavy to carry on my belt). Also supplied is a shoulder strap.
