A surprising number of photographic options for an ultra-compact digital camera, there's everything from aperture selection (but only two) to manual focus (seven positions), sensitivity (ISO 100 - 400), metering mode and long exposures (up to eight seconds). Having these settings tucked away in the menu is probably the right place for them on this camera, they are there to provide users the ability to experiment without confusing the basic user interface too much.
