Record Mode Menu

Pressing the MENU button while in Record mode displays the Record menu. The options are arranged vertically with the current option setting displayed to the right of an icon. I personally felt that the whole menu system would be less confusing if you could see more than three options on the screen at a time.

Use the up and down arrows to scroll through the options, press SELECT to change.

Play Mode Menu

The play menu on the DX4900 is fairly unique, it appears as a strip down the left hand side of the screen, to the right is shown a three thumbnail filmstrip and above that a crop of the selected image. Each function takes effect on the selected image when you press the SELECT button.

Use the up / down arrows to move up and down the play options and the left / right buttons to browse through the images.

Setup Menu

The DX4900's setup menu is accessed by turning the mode dial to the setup position. The menu covers internal camera settings such as power off time, digital zoom, date & time etc.

One particularly important setting which can be easily overlooked is 'Reset User Setting' which needs to be set to 'No' if you wish the camera to remember your flash / focus / display settings.
