The difference between the two cameras becomes even more apparent at ISO 400. The S6000's output is much less noisy, regardless of which crop you concentrate on. The results remain sharp and detailed whereas both chroma noise (blotchy erroneous colors), and luminance noise (grain) are apparent in the S8000's shot. Noise reduction already seems to be smearing some of the detail from the S8000 image, making it look less distinct than the S6000's shot. Once again we mourn the passing of what now appears to be the end of the line for this uniquely capable image sensor.
