Battery Compartment

Fuji have taken an interesting step back
from their traditional practice of using their own battery packs (as seen
in my 2700
review) and now use just two rechargeable AA batteries, this makes
powering the camera and buying extra batteries much easier. However, and
it's a big however I'm not convinced by the battery life from just two
AA's. The compartment itself is in the based of the handgrip and flips
open easily enough.

Batteries and Charger

| FujiFilm BC-NH battery charger (130mA) |
FujiFilm HR-3UF 1.2v 1600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries |
A few disappointments come immediately to mind. First
off the charger doesn't have a charge indicator light so you don't know
when the batteries are charged, it's not a quick charger so you'll have
a long wait to charge those batteries and lastly why couldn't FujiFilm
have include a four battery charger and four batteries so you had a change
of batteries without having to go out and buy more??

SmartMedia Compartment
 |
The 4700z supports SmartMedia cards up to 64MB, they're inserted
and removed through the flip-open compartment on the left side of
the camera. This compartment seems to be straight off the 2700 and
works in exactly the same manner (I find this door a little flimsy
compared to the construction of the rest of the camera).
