Compared to... Pentax Optio A10

Below you will find a studio comparison between the Casio EX-Z850 and the 8MP, 3x zoom Pentax Optio A10. We have included samples for the lowest and highest standard ISO settings for each camera (ISO 50 and 400).

Note that we are not including the higher ISO settings (800 and 1600 in the case of the Z850) in our standard studio test, as they are not manually selectable and are only available in a couple of Best Shot modes. You can find a studio test shot taken at ISO1600 on the noise test page.

Not a huge difference here - the Pentax result is marginally cleaner and has slightly higher contrast - and the reds are slightly warmer (neither is perfect, but the Pentax result is nearer to the actual color in the scene). Although there is not a huge difference, the Pentax A10 would appear to have slightly better edge-to-edge sharpness (looking closely at these crops I also suspect that the cameras have chosen very slightly different focus points).
