Unsurprisingly there's no real difference between the SD550 and its predecessor. Nice, clean shots from the SD550, with typical Canon color and a surprising amount of detail. It's nice to see noise so well controlled without the obvious use of heavy NR. Note that our test camera - like the SD500 we tested - has obvious corner softness at this focal length and subject distance (check out the watch crop). Otherwise the amount of detail and overall color rendition is excellent for an ultra-compact model, and is outperforming the Coolpix 7900 in the central 85% or so of the frame (though the 7900 has a more consistent edge-to-edge performance).
