Nice, clean shots from the SD500, with typical Canon color and a surprising amount of detail. It's nice to see noise so well controlled without the obvious use of heavy NR. Note that our test camera has a slight softness in the bottom right hand corner (the watch crop). Otherwise the amount of detail and overall color rendition is excellent for an ultra-compact model, and certainly puts the Nikon Coolpix 7900 to shame (though the 7900 has a more consistent edge-to-edge performance).
