Menus (cont.)
Setup Section (Yellow)
The Setup section fine-tunes the camera's behaviour to your taste - it's almost entirely options you'll set once and leave there. The main exceptions here are custom functions, where Canon hides away some key options that really should be more easily available (such as mirror lockup and highlight tone priority).

Custom Functions
The 600D's 11 custom functions are defined as being in four categories: Exposure, Image, Autofocus/Drive, Operation/Other. It doesn't really make sense to have an extra tier of menu to let you directly access each of these categories, since there are only two or three options in each. Instead the options are just placed in sequence, making the distinction somewhat redundant.
While many of the custom functions fit firmly into the set-once-and-forget category, a number are items you may well want to change more often (such as mirror lockup and highlight tone priority). This bafflingly poor placement of useful functions can be mitigated by adding them to 'My Menu'.

My Menu
![]() |
The 'My Menu' feature on the EOS 600D allows you to produce your own custom menu made up of any of the cameras menu options (including custom functions). This means that previously buried but useful options such as mirror lockup and Highlight Tone Priority can be added to a top level menu. |
