Canon EOS 50D (RAW) vs. Sony DSLR-A700 (RAW)
Canon EOS 50D (RAW)
Sony DSLR-A700 (RAW)
4.4 MB JPEG (4752 x 3168)
3.4 MB JPEG (4272 x 2848)
Again, the EOS 50D does not gain as much extra detail from shooting in RAW as the competition. While the A700's image looks considerably more detailed and sharper from RAW the improvement on the Canon is fairly marginal, almost neutralizing the 50D's advantage in nominal resolution. Again, the color characteristics are very similar indeed and you'd have a hard time distinguishing between these two images at normal output size.
