Rear of Camera Controls
No visible changes at the back of the 1D Mark IV compared to the Mark III, so in external control terms, it should be easy enough for existing users to just pick up the camera and start shooting.

Vertical / Portrait hand grip
 |
The Mark IV has the familiar 1D-series portrait orientation grip. It features a second main control dial, FEL, AF-ON, *, AF point selection and shutter buttons. The function of all of these can be disengaged using the ON/OFF switch on the top of the grip. The grip isn't as deep as the main, landscape format version, risking it being slightly less comfortable to use for extended periods. |
Depth-of-field preview
 |
At the front of the camera beside the lens mount (hand grip side) is the Mark III's depth-of-field preview button. Press this with a small aperture selected (or metered) and the lens will 'stop down' to that aperture allowing you to preview the effective depth of field of the final shot. |
