The EOS-1D is probably the most configurable and flexible D-SLR to date,
with no less than 21 custom functions and 28 personal functions. Custom
and personal functions can be 'registered' into one of three 'custom function
groups', the idea being that you can instantly switch between different
sets of custom / personal functions for different situations or photographers.
Custom functions are controlled through the camera menu system, personal
functions are set via the supplied TWAIN software and an IEEE 1394 (Firewire)
connection.
