Record mode display
Here you can see an example of the live preview image on the LCD just prior to taking a shot, overlaid over the live view image are the current camera settings (these only appear for 4 seconds, press SET to redisplay them). In this example we have:
Exposure mode (manual), exposure compensation (2/3 EV), white balance mode, Image quality / size, Flash mode, drive mode, focus mode and available frames at the current image quality / size.
|Half-pressing the shutter release causes the cameras autofocus and metering systems to lock, a steady green lamp beside the viewfinder indicates a good AF lock. Note the "shake warning" icon in the center of the screen.||After fully depressing the shutter release a brief review image is shown. You can disable this display or set it to last for 2 or 10 seconds. Pressing SET with the review image displayed gives you the option to delete before it is saved.|
|Switching to play mode immediately displays the last image taken. This is the default amount of information displayed.||Pressing the DISP button displays an extra vertical column of icons indicating the various camera settings used for this shot.|
|Pressing DISP once more clears all overlaid information and just displays the image itself.||Pressing the zoom controller towards tele magnifies the image by a factor of 2.5, use the left / right arrows to scroll around the image in combination with SET.|
|Pressing the zoom controller towards wide displays a 3 x 3 thumbnail view, you can use the arrow keys to navigate around the images.||Pressing the zoom controller towards wide once more enters a "jump" mode which allows you to page through a full page of 9 thumbnails at a time.|
|One option you have from the playback menu (covered in more detail on the next page) is to rotate the image. The IXUS v doesn't have a position sensor (more's the pity) however you can rotate images by 90 degrees at a time for playback purposes. Note that the actual JPEG file is NOT rotated.|
