At ISO 400 the LX2's better lens becomes irrelevant as so much fine detail has been blurred away and the chroma 'washing' (with color bleeding and other artefacts) produces an image that looks very poor next to the (admittedly noisier) A710 IS shot. Once again we see how, when faced with the choice, we'd always prefer camera designers left luminance noise alone; a bit of 'graininess' is far less destructive than aggressive noise reduction.
