The DSC-V3 provides just three levels of adjustment (-1 to +1) for each of the contrast, saturation and sharpness image parameters. I'll give Sony the same berating as I've given to other manufacturers who offer such a limited range of adjustment, you need to do better! This amount of adjustment equates to a token gesture and doesn't really provide the photographer with any useful level of adjustment.

Contrast
Adjusting the tone alters the shape of the curve used
to map the linear image data captured by the sensor into the correct gamma.
A lower contrast setting maintains more of the original data's dynamic
range but leads to a flatter looking image. A higher contrast setting
stretches the grayscale (dark to light) of the image and could lead to
clipping of both shadow detail and highlights.

Saturation
Saturation adjustment allows you to control the strength of color in the final image.

Sharpness
You can reduce sharpnening halos by setting the camera's sharpness parameter to the '-' setting, however that also impacts on the level of detail delivered which can in the case of the V3 be fairly difficult to recover in post-processing.
