| Another bit of excellent build from Sony, a functional and well built compartment door, don't scoff, some of the door designs found on other digital cameras are sadly lacking. Note that unlike the S70 there's no latch to push before opening the door. |
One compartment does all, in here you'll find both the battery (same as F505V, NP-FS11) and MemoryStick slot, the typical sprung push in, push out type. |

The battery is (naturally) a Sony InfoLithium "S" type (much smaller than the M used in the S70), rated at 3.6V 4.1Wh (1140mAh), the supplied charger is the new smaller AC-LS1A input 100-240V 50/60Hz. Note that the battery charges in-camera with a readout of charging status on the top LCD. |

On the rear of the camera, behind a rubber door, top USB connector, bottom DC input from AC adapter / charger. |
Left side of the camera just beside the battery & storage compartment is the AV output for connection to a TV / VCR using the supplied cable - RCA jacks with Video & Audio. |
Not surprisingly the Windows 2000 USB drivers (here) for the F505V work perfectly with the P1.
Tripod Mount

On the base of the
camera is a metal tripod mount, it would have been nice for
it to be located further back to ensure a better fit on certain tripods.
That said you're more likely to use this camera with a small table
top tripod, for which this mount is fine.

Internal Flash
 |
The small flash on the P1 is rated as: Wide: 0.5 - 2.3 m (19" - 7.5ft), Tele: 0.5 - 1.2 m (19" - 4ft). A slightly lower range than the S70 but respectable for a camera of this size. Note that the flash is located well away from the lens to reduce the chance of red eye. |
