Compared to... Panasonic DMC-FZ7

Below you will find a studio comparison between the Panasonic DMC TZ1 and 6 megapixel, Venus II engine equipped Panasonic DMC FZ7. We have included samples at ISO 80 and 400.

The TZ1 (which we presume shares the same sensor as the FZ7, it just doesn't use all of it) uses a little more sharpening, saturation and contrast, and shows a little more purple fringing than its bigger brother, but overall - given the compromises one would expect from a camera like this - the results are pretty impressive. You can see the effect of the Venus III's stronger noise reduction in the very finest low contrast details even here, at ISO 80 in good light, though on a positive note this does also mean you can't see any noise...
