| The most basic display in playback mode shows the file number and image quality setting briefly for each frame. |
Pressing the DISP button adds further information; file size and exposure / white balance / ISO settings. |

| Pressing the DISP button again changes the display to show a histogram. |
The left zoom button switches to a thumbnail display. |

| Unusually you can choose between 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5 thumbnails, all perfectly usable thanks to that large, crystal-clear screen. |
The right zoom button magnifies the image in seven steps, up to 8.0x. |

| The playback menu has four tabs - play, edit, card and 'album entry'. The four directional keys on the four-way controller are used to select each option. |
Pressing the 'up' key brings up a page of slide show options; there's four nice transition effects and the option for some rather groovy background music. |

| The Stylus 800 offers a fairly sophisticated way of organizing the images on your xD card into 'albums', complete with natty ring-bound frame effects. How useful this is will depend on how long you intend to keep the images on the card I guess. |
You can also browse images by date using this very attractive calendar view. |

| The right arrow key takes you to the play mode menu, which has four tabs. The first, PLAY, (shown above) has image rotation, DPOF printing and voice annotation options. |
The card menu is the same as found in record mode with the addition of a 'backup' option, for copying images from the internal memory to an xD card. |

One unusual feature of the Stylus Verve is in-camera image editing. Here you can automatically remove red-eye (which works pretty well), convert images to black & white or sepia, or resize them. In each case a new file is created, so you won't lose the original. |
