Olympus E-520 vs. Canon EOS 450D
Canon EOS 450D
2.6 MB (3648 x 2736)
3.6 MB JPEG (4272 x 2848)
The Canon 450D is much more convincing in RAW, putting some distance between itself and the Olympus in terms of fine detail rendered. It's not a large amount by any means, but demonstrates the difference a well-sorted JPEG engine makes: the E520 offers its JPEG users just about everything its sensor can record. The 450D may be capable of a little more, overall, but JPEG shooters won't see an advantage at base ISOs.
