Battery Charger
 |
The C-7000 has an external battery charger, the LI-10C which is the same unit as used on previous 'C' series digital cameras. It has a charge indicator LED and a full charge from flat takes approximately two hours. |
Connections
On the right side of the camera (from the rear) is the combined USB and A/V out connector, on the left side is the DC-IN connector for the optional AC adapter. The C-7000 has no other external connectors or ports.
Lens
 |
The C-7000's five times optical zoom lens has a maximum aperture of F2.8 at wide angle and F4.8 at telephoto which is fairly respectable (and similar to that of the Pentax Optio 750Z). One distinguishing feature of the lens is its fast startup extension, taking just one second from a press of the power button it's twice as fast as the nearest camera in its segment (the Casio EX-P700). Kudos Olympus. |

Base / Tripod Mount
 |
On the base of the camera is a plastic tripod mount which is unfortunately not in line with the center of the lens and will block the battery / storage compartment when mounted. However it's central enough not to cause the camera to tilt to one side or another. |
Pop-up Flash
The C-7000 is the only one of the five seven megapixel digital cameras we're testing together which has a pop-up flash. The use of a pop-up enables Olympus to keep the overall height of the camera down. The disadvantage is that flash operation isn't "automatic" you have to remember to manually release the flash so that it's in the up position, it's not electrically released. The flash has a specified range of 3.8 m at wide angle and 2.2 m at telephoto (Auto ISO).
Auto Focus Assist Lamp
 |
To the top left of the lens is the AF assist lamp, it provides a very bright beam of orange light to assist the camera's contrast detect AF system in low light situations. You can disable this lamp from the camera menu. |
