As we expected, the differences between the EOS 500D and D5000 are mainly in down to the default image parameters chosen by the two manufacturers. The additional sensor resolution of the EOS 500D is able to pull a little more detail out of the horizontal stripes on the central medal in the third crop. This difference can also be seen in the fine detail of the large letters 'AFRI' running across the bottom-half of the globe crop.
