Rear of Camera Controls

The control layout on the rear of the D50 has changed only slightly from the D70. There's no bracket mode button and no 4-way controller lock switch otherwise button functions remain the same. We like the multi-purpose design of the ISO / WB / QUAL buttons and the fact that they have to be used in combination with the command dial (no accidental changes).

When an image is displayed pressing delete will display a "Delete?" prompt, press this button once more to delete the image. This is quicker and more straightforward than the D100 which required confirmation with a different button. |

The D50 loses the DOF preview button and so the only controls on the front of the camera are located on the right side of the lens barrel (from the front). From top to bottom: flash release / flash sync / flash exposure compensation, lens release and focus mode. |
