Battery Compartment
 |
In the bottom of the hand grip is the battery compartment. The
DX4900 takes 2 x AA batteries (we'd recommend NIMH rechargeable).
If you buy the optional EasyShare dock you'll also get this 'wrapped'
pack of AA rechargeable batteries which can charge in-camera on
the dock.
|

Connections
 |
All of the DX4900's connectors (apart from those which connect
it to the dock) are hidden behind a rubber cover on the left side
of the camera below the power switch. Here you'll find a video out
port and USB connector.
|

Flash
 |
The DX4900's small flash unit is mounted a good distance from the
lens, this is a good sign as it should mean fewer red-eye problems
with flash shots.
The unit is rated with a range of 0.5 - 3.2 m (1.6 - 10.5 ft) at
wide angle and 0.5 - 2.3 m (1.6 - 7.5 ft) at full telephoto.
|

Base
 |
The base of the DX4900 looks fairly complex (for a consumer camera).
Here's a list of elements from left to right: Battery Compartment,
Compact Flash release lever, Tripod mount (not the worst location
we've seen but it would block the battery compartment when on a
tripod), Sliding connections cover for EasyShare dock.

Optional EasyShare Camera Dock
The optional Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock provides a quick
'drop in' facility for when you return back from a shoot. The Dock connects
to your computer and the supplied AC adapter, this provides instant connectivity
to your computer as well as a power supply for the camera. When using
the supplied (with the Dock) double AA NiMH rechargeable battery pack
the batteries charge in the camera when it's on the Dock.
