DCS Custom Looks Software are indicated with an asterisk (*). Images saved
in sRGB color space. To save bandwidth all images have been reduced to
VGA size.

Custom Looks Software

File Format Module v1.0.0.10
The Kodak DCS File Format Module provides extended range imaging support
for ERI-JPEG images loaded into Adobe Photoshop. The module itself is
installed as a Adobe Photoshop file format plugin and operates by checking
each JPEG opened by Photoshop for ERI data. If it recognizes an image
as ERI-JPEG it displays a special dialog box which gives you the opportunity
to make modifications to the image before it is loaded. The red bar indicator
in the bottom left of the dialog indicates how much extra latitude is
available in the ERI portion of the JPEG (above the current 'white point').
You can choose to simply continue opening the JPEG or click on 'Enable'
to make adjustments.

After clicking on 'Enable' the FFM re-renders the image and enables the
adjustment panes, these allow you to change exposure compensation, balance
& lighting, look and color space as well as applying rotation. In
the example below we have gone one step further and applied a -1.5 EV
digital exposure compensation to the image, you can see the difference
compared to the image above, which if it had been a normal JPEG file would
have been pretty much lost.
Below are three ERI-JPEG sample images, the first exposed normally, the
next two over exposed by 1.0 and 1.5 EV respectively, the camera histogram
is shown below them indicating the amount of ERI data captured. Directly
below are 'fixed' versions of the +1.5 and +2.0 EV images with digital
exposure compensation applied to them by the ERI file format module then
re-saved from Photoshop. The -1.0 EV image shows almost no degradation,
the -1.5 EV image does lose some detail in areas of bright color.
