Compared to... Fuji FinePix F10
Below you will find a studio comparison between the Fuji FinePix F30 and it's predecessor, the FinePix F10, at ISO 400.
Note: The F10's lack of aperture control means we cannot select our normal (F5.0) aperture, and this may have a very slight effect on the sharpness of the F10's result.

Once you start to turn up the sensitivity things start to get really impressive - the F10 set new standards for ISO 400 in a small sensor camera, and the new version of the Super CCD sensor / processor offers a real, measurable and visible improvement. Where the F10 results are starting to show evidence of noise reduction artefacts, the F30 output looks remarkably clean, yet retains a surprising amount of detail. Again it's been subjected to higher in-camera sharpening (and is quite contrasty), but what really matters is that for you've got an ISO 400 mode on a compact camera that you can use without the usual limitations (i.e. you can view it full screen or print it fairly large without seeing excessive noise or noise reduction). |
