Record mode display

Here, an example of detailed information overlay and live histogram
in Program Auto Exposure mode. Camera settings are shown down the
left hand side of the display. Along the bottom are image quality
and focus mode settings.
In this case: Flash Cancel, Macro focus, Single shot, 112 frames,
Multi-segment metering, 2246 x 1680 FINE image quality, Shade WB,
half zoom, +0.7 EV exposure compensation.

| After half-pressing the shutter release the selected
focus bracket will either turn green to indicate a good AF lock or
red to indicate no AF lock. Also displayed is the exposure (F2.0,
1/15 sec in this case) and because the shutter speed is relatively
slow the 'hand shake' blur warning icon. Note that if you have 'focus
expansion' enabled the center portion of the view will be magnified
(see below). |
After shooting a preview of the captured image is displayed
very briefly. Pressing the PREVIEW button will redisplay this preview
(with almost no delay) but no information, magnification or browsing
can be can be carried out. You can however, delete the last shot by
pressing the AE-L button when this preview is shown. |

| In live view mode press the DISP button to switch between
display modes, here we have the live histogram overlay. Click
here for an animated example of the live histogram changing in
response to exposure compensation. |
Press the DISP button once more to switch to a more
basic shooting view (although still with some settings information). |

| Here's an example of focus expansion in auto focus mode,
as soon as you half-press the shutter release a small portion of the
center of the frame is magnified (live). |
Focus expansion (if enabled) is displayed all the time
in manual focus mode to assist in selecting the correct focus position. |

| When selecting a focus mode of Spot AF or Macro AF this
grid of nine focus positions is temporarily displayed, you can use
the 4-way control button to select one of them. |
Through the record menu it is possible to enable a 'thirds'
grid view mode which overlays on the screen to assist scene composition. |

and aperture will be calculated on a half-press of the shutter release. |

| In addition to the 105 scene modes which come with the
camera it's also possible to create 'User Setup' Best Shot scene modes
based on the settings used to take an image already on the CF card. |
Once added these User Setup modes appear as CF2xx in
the Best Shot catalogue (and are recorded on the current CF card). |
** Note: it is possible to change this to a histogram display by pressing
the SET button to hold the image on the screen then press DISPLAY to switch
to histogram mode. All shots taken from then onwards will use a histogram
display for image review.

| Just like many other digital
cameras the QV-4000 uses a lower resolution 'thumbnail' image to provide
an instant on screen image and then in the background loads the higher
resolution image from the CF card, overlaying it once loaded (as shown
by the animation above). |
Press DISPLAY to remove
all overlaid information and simply show the image alone. |

| Press DISPLAY again to
switch to the histogram and detailed exposure information mode. Here
we have additionally a histogram, exposure mode, drive mode, metering
mode, flash mode, aperture, shutter speed, WB mode and file size. |

| Pressing the zoom controller
towards telephoto the camera magnifies the displayed image in several
steps up to x3.2. You can use the 4-way control button to scroll around
the image. |
Pressing the zoom controller
towards wide angle and you'll get a 3x3 (9 image) thumbnail view of
current images. Use the 4-way control button to navigate. |
