This is our standard studio scene comparison shot taken from exactly the same tripod position. Lighting: daylight simulation, >98% CRI. Crops are 100%. Ambient temperature was approximately 22°C (~72°F). Camera settings as per previous pages.

Taking the cameras' processing out of the equation shows more clearly the EOS 450D's slight resolution advantage, though how much practical benefit this will bring to most photographers is another matter; at normal enlargement sizes you're unlikely to see it. But there's no doubt that the new model does improve (detail wise) on its predecessor; nor is there any doubt that shooting raw brings a small but visible resolution benefit.
