Studio scene comparison

This is our standard studio scene comparison shot taken from exactly the same tripod position within minutes of each other. Lighting: 2 x 800W studio lights with dichroic daylight filters bounced off a white ceiling reflector. Crops magnified 200%. Ambient temperature was approximately 21°C (~70°F).

Canon EOS-1D Mark II vs. Canon EOS-1Ds

In this comparison we're attempting to demonstrate the increase in resolution in the step from the EOS-1D Mark II's 8.2 million pixels to the EOS-1Ds' 11 million pixels. Obviously you wouldn't choose the 1Ds for sports photography however it's worth visually seeing the difference between the capabilities of these two cameras at resolving detail. Both of these cameras feature Canon CMOS sensors.

As with our previous EOS-1D Mark II vs. EOS-1Ds comparison this one again demonstrates the impressive resolution advantage the EOS-1Ds manages to achieve, clearly there's a bigger jump in pixel count between the Mark II and EOS-1Ds (2.8 million) than the EOS-10D to the Mark II (1.9 million) and that's fairly clear to see here.
