Whilst neither camera is producing a particularly appealing result, I personally think Canon's lighter touch with noise reduction is preferable to the smearing Panasonic has done to the LX2 shot. It's worth noting that the Panasonic's ISO 800 seems to be marginally more sensitive than the Canon's.
