I owned/used the AF-S 50/1.8D, the AF-S 50/1.4G and the 50/1.8E, the Voigtlander is easily the best of all these. What I like: (1) buttery smooth focus ring rotation (2) exceptionally sharp but still lively & warm images (3) excellent build quality, a joy to look at all the details from the engraved markings to the metal screw in lens hood

A wonderful lens filling a gap in the crop sensor world.  Much better than the Nikkor f/1.4 wide open and, as the previous commenter mentions, dreamlike at f/1.4.  Used mostly on the D90 but can't wait to see what it does on the D7100...

Using on Nikon D7000. A wonderful and reliable piece of craftsmanship. A little dreamy at 1.4. Ideal portrait lens for DX. Near-normal on FX. Focuses down to 1.5 feet. Superb for still-lifes and florals. Astounding resolution.
