I'm looking to get the 100/2.8 macro but (I think) I don't like the size of the focus ring on the early versions, including the RS. For a lens that seems to have a pretty large turn of that ring it's kinda small. Ken Rockwell seems to love the first version though, including claiming the AF is ultra fast on his A99 despite Dyxum reviews saying the opposite. Perhaps I'm being too picky and that reviews of the slow AF are less relevant to SLT owners? I tend to prefer manual focus but on a...

Suddenly my poor A77 went bye bye. When I turn on the camera, I can see a black strip (covering almost 1/3 of the LCD and View Finder) for 1-2 seconds, and then it goes totally black with "Camera error". I removed the battery and could take one more shot, but it went black again. The shutter count is over 120.000, and I suspect it needs a new shutter. In case, how much would it cost to replace?.  You guys have any idea what else could be wrong?

Hello, I was posting in the Beginner forum and they suggested I move here since I've pretty much settled on Sony and you all would know more specifics about Sony than they would. This crosses both A-Mount and E-Mount though so I'm not sure which forum to pick. I am posting in A-Mount simply because it comes first alphabetically :) To avoid too much repetition, that original thread is here: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/53471618 And my photos are...

I would like to know if A6000 has better accuracy and faster lock in low light in AF-S, or just more focus point, and as such, only better tracking C_AF, but the same performance in single point AF. Im planning on buying one of those cameras for wedding video (and ocasionally stills in the weddings that don´t have video). It will be: - Sony a6000 + 18-105 f4 OSS + external zoom hn1 audio recorder (everything new for 1250€); or - Sony A7 (used) + 28-70 f3.5-5.6 (used) + LA-EA4 (new)...

I'm contemplating buying the Sigma 10mm f2.8 diagonal fisheye lens for my Sony a77 (cropped sensor for which this sigma works) but was wondering how much use other people get out of their diagonal fisheyes in wedding and modeling photography. I overwhelmingly do weddings and am trying to get into a little bit of modeling, but right now am just weighing the cost of the lens, $500-$650, against how much use it would likely see. Currently my other lenses are: 50mm f1.4 70-200mm f2.8 16-50mm...

I tried to buy PaintShop Pro X6 after many years exemplary service with version 9.02. I trialled X6 and then tried to buy it. I registered it in my account "Thank you for registering your software" and that looked Ok and the serial number matched. Then they debited my Via card and emailed me an activation code. However this proved unusable. No matter how I entered (pasted or keyed) the serial number I got "The serial number is invalid" before I ever got to enter the activation code. At one...

Hi I am not a Pro but I was wondering whether somebody could answer this query please. If you are a professional Food or Product photographer and you get a contract to take photos for a magazine, newspaper, or a contract with a Product manufacturer, etc, obviously decent lenses are important, but how much does the choice of does the camera body matter? Will companies, advertisers, etc, only accept Photos from photographers who use Full Frame Professional cameras with big megapixels, or will...

I need high speed sync and I'm avoiding buying one of the expensive Sony Flashes.  What are my alternatives?  I've found Metz 58 a2 but that's still almost as pricey.  Can I just use a Yongnuo 585x or something that is meant for Nikon/Canon and trigger with the commander/on board flash? I've poured over these forums and not found definitive answers. Many thanks

B&H has this combo at $798 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/881000-REG/sony_slta77vj_sony_slt_a77_dslr_digital.html I currently shoot with a 6 year old A300. Bought when our girl was born. Use a Sigma 530 DG Super flash. All of my main glass is Minolta from my Maxxum days. 28mm prime, 50mm f1.7 prime, 35-70 mini beer can, 70-210 beer can. Plan to make the A300 a backup using the 18-55mm kit with an old 70-210mm promaster. Basically shooting portraits, events, sports, outdoor landscape...
