Hi all, I have an A77 and a Minolta 50mm f1.7 and am tempted by the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens. is it enough of an improvement to justify the purchase? Does it noticeably outperform the 16-50 SSM Sony lens even? My local store does not stock one otherwise I'd test it myself. Opinions appreciated, thanks! --Prejudice is ignorance
I am trying to make some pictures of star trails with my A77, but I think the NEX-5N might be a better choice. No mirror and it is easyer for me to do something else in the mean time with the A77 than with the NEX-5N. My workaround with the A77 is: all manual, 10-15 seconds exposure, remote on BULB Are remotes for the NEX-5N capable to use the BULB without you have to keep the button pushed? Thanks for reacting. Peter
I have an 18% gray card with me most of the time. I use it to set white balance. I'd also like to use it to set exposure. For example, if I'm in A mode, I'd like to calibrate on the card, select aperture, and have the camera always pick shutter+ISO such that 18% gray remains 18% gray.Is there a way to do this? The AEL button, by documentation, has to be held down. I'd like an on-going lock until I explicitly disable it.For now, I've just been shooting manual, but it'd be faster if I didn't...
Problem / Issue...When shooting A77 in Continous AF Mode and Temp less than 23 degrees F, After about a half hour out in cold I find that the AF stops working. The focus is stopped at the last distance that the last picture was taken. Pressing the MF/AF button does not fix this. The only solution is to turn off the camera wait about 10 seconds (just to make sure it completely shuts down) and then turn it back on. Then it seems fine for a while but will happen again after less than a half...
Hello. I've used Sony's since the A100, that's when I got interested in photography for certain. Upgraded to an A580 that was nice, especially with the Live view focus check and much better higher ISO capabilities. The build quality left quite a lot to be desired however. Upgraded to an A77 after realizing that large aperture lenses make mf af adjust quite critical. Really did like the build quality and feel of the A77, though its size meant I couldn't put it in the pocket of a jacket and as...
I accidentally observed this with my new A77 and 16-50 kit lens, focus point is where the green square is if you view this at 1:1, but somehow it focused at the third line? I checked camera settings, there's no AF micro adjustment applied. I did add a +20 adjustment to get it focus at exact where the focus point is, but when I take a regular photo with that adjustment, it turned out out of focus, I wonder if this is normal.
