I have owned my NEX 7 for approximately eight months. In that timeframe I have used the camera almost exclusively as a video camera which was the reason I purchased it in the first place. During those eight months I have only been able to achieve the advertised 29 minutes and 50 seconds of non-stop filming without the camera overheating. I am not using the camera in undesirable conditions and for the most part I am indoors shooting at room temperature. When I started researching this problem ...

First of all, thanks to DPReview for a superb in-depth evaluation which was a great help in purchasing. It doesn't really need me to add much about the camera itself; the results are remarkable and it's just fantastic. The only downside may be that, particularly for a "novice enthusiast" who uses a camera mostly in auto-mode for holiday snaps and so on, forget it. Frankly it is overpriced, possibly a lot being due to the EVF, but regardless of how good it is you can buy any number of cameras, ...

I've been incredibly happy with the NEX-7. Even though I've considered purchasing the RX100, or other cameras, Sony's NEX-7 image quality can't be beat. It's the smallest mirror-less camera with the biggest sensor size so far. Sony's lenses are quite expensive but eventually they will offer more Problems: Sometimes while carrying on the strap I indadvertedly press the buttons on the top right corner.

Very sharp images either JPEG or RAW. Noise reduction is superior in low setting. DRO is very useful and even HDR is wonderful tool to use. This camera body has a metal feel to it and I love it. The handling is so good and rather comfortable with. Very fast AF and shutter response when fully pressed. Quick start up time included sensor dust vibration cleaning that can give you a bit of delay start up which is normal. EVF and rear viewfinder are excellent visual indoor and cloudy skies. Colour ...

I don't often keep camera gear very long (see my gear list!!) so the best testimony to a camera (for my usage) is how long I use it! :D The NEX-7 has been good to me. I got one of the first shipping camera bodies back in December of 2011 and sold it on EBay for a $2000 profit. I immediately ordered another one and kept it. :) I use cameras for naturescapes (landscape, flowers, wildlife) and for my family / travelling. I need my gear to be relatively light, small and produce maximum IQ of ...

I've had my NEX 7 for 6 months now and am delighted. I moved to it from a Nikon D7000 to get something smaller / lighter without sacrificing all those DSLR features and performance I like....much. I have the kit lens plus the 18-200 zoom (heavy, but otherwise does the job, and the total weight is still less than my old Nikon.) I have used it on 2 long trips now so have some experience with it in various situations....landscape, portrait, night, action. I found the DPReview review of the ...

The NEX-7 image quality is absolutely the best of any APS-C camera; it is even sharper per pixel than my NEX-5 despite having 24MP vs. 14MP. In fact, it holds-up very well against FF 24MP cameras being released a year after the NEX-7. It handles well, but is particularly fluid when used with legacy manual lenses -- focus peaking on the EVF is a joy. A lot of people complain about limited choice of native E-mount lenses, but that's not the way to think about a NEX-7. There are lots of native ...

Coming from a Sony alpha 350. The Nex 7 is a joy to use and I love the small size and ergonomics. The EVF is brilliant and great for reviewing pictures in bright sunlight.Have an adapter for my other Sony lenses and other than autofocus they work fine. Image quality is excellent and I enjoy using some of the auto modes such an miniature, HDR painting and rich tone black and white. The built in HDR function works quite well (though not in RAW). Problems: But... The menu system is a mess. ...

Takes just about every lens possible via some pretty cheap adapters. I bought body-only and paired with a little 19mm Sigma, which is very nice. I've tried the Zeiss 24/f1.8 which is lovely (and focuses very close), but the price is a little rich for my blood. Manual focus is a breeze with focus peaking. Quality of results is very good and I like being able to see the effect of exposure compensation and DoF. Camera is really light and go-everywhere. Contrast detection AF is not as snappy ...
