Hi everyone, Just got the A6000, love it but my lenses (24mm 1.8 Zeiss & 55-210mm lens) are still on version 0.1 Firmware. I went to update them but it specifically says; This firmware update can only be performed when the lens is attached to the following cameras: NEX-5R, NEX-5T or NEX-6. - You cannot perform the firmware update using other camera. Do you think its safe to try them with the A6000? I'm assuming they just haven't updated the document as these updates came out about 6 months...

I bought a used NEX-5R on January 11th. It worked fine up until a week or two ago. Now, when I plug it in, the charger light is orange for a few seconds, then starts blinking like it's overheating. I have two batteries and they both do it. Since I was setting it near a window to charge and it was quite cold up until about a week ago, it may have had this issue all along. It's about 60 F right now, well within the operating guidelines. Is this a known problem with this model? Do I have any...

First time posting. Here is my situation. I went to best buy and found open box NEX-5R with kit lense for $197.00 (pretty much new). I also bought the view finder from Adorama for $150.00 I also found and bought the NEX 6 with kit lense for $399.00 (again pretty much brand new). The main use I need a camera for is to take family portrait and kids playing. Possibly very little in home studio work. I need help deciding which one to keep and which one to return. Any suggestions or input would be...

Hello, I have a NEX5R. Recently, I save my photos in the mode "RAW+JPEG". I try to get the same JPEG from the RAW thanks to Image Data Converter. For example, if I find the JPEG good but there is something I want to change (for example the white balance), I have to modify the RAW. But when I build a JPEG from the RAW with Image Data Converter, I have a very different result from the JPEG of the camera... So I would like to apply same processing on the RAW file than the camera do, and to...

Pocket-ability, for me, is mostly about how thick a camera is from back to front, with a lens mounted.  Width and height mattering less. After much research, I don't think there is any ILC camera (Pentax Q, MFT, APS-C), with a lens mounted, that is thinner than a Nex-5 with the 20mm F2.8. Is that right? Thanks... P.S.  A follow-up question might be this...what is the thinnest lens available for each sensor size? 1)  MFT 2)  APS-C

I recently bought the 5R and installed firmware v. 1.02 immediately. I wanted to get the most out of the camera so I purchased a Camera Guide by David Busch covering the NEX-3 and the NEX-5. The firmware update he mentions in the guide is version 3 which should add a 3D Panorama facility to the Shooting Mode wheel. I found an update file (NEX-5V3_Update1010a.exe) which I downloaded, thinking this was the one he mentioned. However, the update process didn't succeed. I can only guess that it...

Hey! I'm a point-and-shoot guy who'd like to get into the world of mirrorless. There's a shop near me that's selling an open-box NEX-5R (with the 18-55mm) and a new NEX-3N (with the 16-50mm) at the same price, about $350. Google tells me these are decent prices! Should I jump on one of these, or should I wait for the a5000/a6000 and pick up one of those? Are the differences between the models going to be something a beginner notices? I want to do general-purpose and low-light/concert photos...

I find it difficult to decide whether to keep my Sony NEX 5R or my Nikon D7000. I like the Nikon because of its solid size with its 18-140mm lens. It is also weather sealed. I like the NEX 5R for ithe quality of its pictures. Iwould appreciate your feedback on this.

So tried out an NEX-6 on a whim about a month ago, and thought it was interesting but not quite as well thought out as a GX7.  Didn't like that there were only two customizeable function buttons compared with the GX7's 3.5.  I was reading about the a6000 and someone said that the NEX-5R or T can have the functions of its direction buttons changed.  Is this correct?  Because if so, I think I might just pick up one of those and wait until the A6000 comes down in price to upgrade.
