Hey gang.  Late to the game but finally upgrading to the A7 or A7R.  If I buy the A7 should I buy it with the kit lens 28-70mm or is there a similarly priced lens that would be beneficial to buy.  At the moment I am using only legacy Canon FD lenses on my NEX-5T.  My go to lenses are the Canon 85mm 1.2L and 50mm 1.4.   I will be doing mostly portraiture and product work but some landscapes as well.  I'd say 60% of my shoots will be in controlled lighting environments.  40% will be walkabout...

I used Sony's playmemories to copy pictures from the Nex-5T camera to the computer. Now I have a WD Mycoud network attached storage (NAS) and copying from the camera direct to the NAS is too slow with playmemories, like 30 seconds for one 4 MB file average picture. From camera to the computer hard drive it goes at around 15-20 MB per sec and from computer hard drive to NAS about the same speed.Anyone experiencing the same thing and know what setting to change? I searched..., Thank you

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help me please? I am looking at two 50mm lenses by Sony and found two from the Jessops online store. The links are below. I am using an NEX-5T and was wondering if the only difference between the two lenses is the OSS? I noticed the SAM lens doesn't mention E in the title so was wondering if the E-Mount system of the 5T would mean I couldn't use it.  Looking to get the lens to start taking portrait shots for...

First and foremost please forgive me if this question has been answered in the past.  If so, please post links for the threads so I can read them.  Thank you in advance.      Current Nex-5t owner, very happy with this camera considering the very low price tag.  Looking to get an A7 for the larger sensor and it being weather sealed.  I have decided this hunting season to use my camera more than my "other instruments".  Basically, I have more fun shooting pictures.  This is where the A7 comes...

Hello everyone I've had 2 stuck pixels and 1 dead (black) pixel on my Sony NEX-5T for a few months thinking it would go after sometime but it still hasn't it doesn't effect my images though and it has to do with the LCD but not the photos. But it is really annoying when i put the lens cap on and turn on the camera I see a bluish or red colored pixel depending on if I look at from right to  left. I also have this black pixel when I'm on the menu screen. But more importantly I need help getting...

My NEX-5R recently failed. I ended up replacing with an NEX-5T because there was a special on where I could get it new with the EVF included for the same price as a used NEX-6. I'll probably be adding a second body at some point, though, which will probably be from the 6 series. I'm looking at getting a microphone because I was wanting to shoot some interviews, but the have different ports. Is there any way to adapt the smart accessory microphone to the hot shoe or vice-versa?

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and wanted to get some answers on something I have been troubled with and shocked lately. I just purchased a new Sony NEX-5T and had it for about a month and yesterday I  noticed a scratch on the sensor I couldn't believe it!! This is something that I just know that wasn't ever going to be a problem for me because I obviously never ever put my finger near the sensor, I am very very careful & paranoid when it comes to things like this because I know the...

I've been looking into getting a mirrorless rangefinder-form camera but I can't shell out a lot of money, so I found these 3 options that are within the budget I have. I tried finding comparisons & reviews but none were helpful, especially for the E-PL6. Background info: I'm not a photography beginner; I've been doing photography & using an SLR for years, but I'm looking for something that is more portable, so I do understand the technical differences between the cameras but the problem is...

I'm looking to replace my trusty Canon S2, even though it's still going strong and provide good enough results (for me). But after 10 years and 33000 clicks, I think it's time to retire it plus I want to climb up a notch... Been wanting a DSLR for years now but there was always more important things pulling the budget strings. But now I think it can be a possibility. What I want a camera for: For enthusiast use (non-pro) Outside, nature, animals, car shows Interior, kids, family Eventually...

I have what I must imagine is a complete beginner question, which is probably reasonable since I'm pretty much brand new to serious photography. I have had some experience on a Canon T1i, which is relevant to my question regarding a Sony NEX-5T I've recently bought. I have never seen the following that I am aware of on the old Canon T1i, which is what makes me question it on the NEX-5T. Bear with me, I'm sure I'm not up on proper jargon. It seems to me that when I take some photos with the...
