Looking for an upgrade to my Nex C3 (18-55 kit lens). The Nex 5T has a new lower price (due to becoming discontinued) and seems like a natural upgrade. But, the kit lens 16-50 has great size/weight but seems to have quite a few problems. The samsung NX300 looks similar and slightly better, both software and lens wise, but i can only seem to find it (in my country) with the 18-55 kit lens which is too bulky, or the 20-50 which is limited and has no OIS. I'd rather have the 16-50. I'm skipping...

Hello all, Just a quick question. As you know, IR remote conroller is disabled on cameras before A6000 (such an annoying situation), so my question is, in HDR or bracketing mode, can we trigger the shutter (of nex-5N 5R- 5T-A5100) with shutter release cables that can be easily found in ebay ? (to avoid camera shake) many thanks for answers. Best regards...

Hi! I have a 9 year old son who shows some interest in photography and videography. Would like to buy a cheap camera for him. Cheap because he will probably break it soon. But tough compacts are too expensive, even old ones, and their photo quality is too bad. I own a full Olympus m4/3 system and I gave him my old Olympus E-P3. It's a very well built camera, it doesn't break if you drop it on asphalt from 4 feet height. But, since it was 3.3 year old it recently stopped working. Shutter...

Has anybody used the MK1 version of the 70-400G with the A77II? Does it speed up the often slightly slow AF performance of this lens?  Is it an improvement over the lens' AF performance when used with the original Mk1 A77? I use this lens for birding with my NEX-5R and LA-EA2 adaptor - horrible AF performance on that combination but investigations a while back suggested that the mk1 A77 would not be able to give me the AF I was looking for.  Now that the 7Dii has appeared I'm hoping there may...

I shoot a lot of video with my NEX 5R. I have sequential naming on. This works for still, but not video. For instance, if I shoot up to image 1003 and video 12, then wipe the card, still continue at 1004, but video starts over at 0. Is there any way to prevent this? On a related note, my camera seems to lock the memory card. I can view it on my computer, but not delete anything. Is there any way around this? I'd like to be able to back up last month to my computer and delete it off the card...

Someone was complaining about auto and scene modes the other day, because you can't just center focus and recompose in the auto or scene modes. Fair complaint. You're in "intelligent auto" mode, and the camera locks onto a horses face instead of that of your grandchild. Kind of lame. So, now I'm curious, can you select the subject to override this behavior on any of the Nex cameras with touch screens? You're in "intelligent auto" mode, you point the camera at your grandchild, and then touch...

I do video work in the Outdoor industry, mainly a combination of video and timelapses which I always shoot as raw image sequences. I'm considering upgrading from the NEX-5R to the A7s because of the increased low light for video (in outdoor filming, low light is the norm rather than the exception). Let me know if I am understanding this right... -According to DXOMark, the A7s has a usable ISO of 3702, whereas the NEX-5R has a usable rating of 910. This matches my previous experience that...

I'm shopping around for a mirrorless camera and I have 3 things I'm really looking at: Low light performance High speed video (even 120FPS at lower resolution would be okay) Time lapse. It seems like pretty much any of the APS-C or 4/3rds sensor cameras will have pretty good low light performance, but it looks like none of them do high speed or time lapse (at least based on the search features of this site). Oddly, Nikon's CX sensor cameras all do high speed and may also do time lapse. It...

Hi! I'm going to buy my first camera mainly for making nice blog photos and practicing some bokeh. I've ended my search with Sony a5000/NEX 5T. They suit my budget well (600$ is my boundary), they seem to have a decent (and the same - is that true?) kit lens according to the reviews, and Wi-Fi/NFC (which is also an important factor for me). a5000 has a built-in flash (I'm not that enthusiastic to use external flashes), so currently I prefer it over 5T. So, my question is, will the a5000 be...
