I bought a used NEX-5R on January 11th. It worked fine up until a week or two ago. Now, when I plug it in, the charger light is orange for a few seconds, then starts blinking like it's overheating. I have two batteries and they both do it. Since I was setting it near a window to charge and it was quite cold up until about a week ago, it may have had this issue all along. It's about 60 F right now, well within the operating guidelines. Is this a known problem with this model? Do I have any...

When I upload pictures to the gallery, stuff like ISO, exposure, aperture and focal length is auto-filled, but the camera and lens are not, even though they are in the metadata. I tried pics from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony alpha NEX 5-R and Canon Powershot SX210 IS and none of them filled in camera data. Is this normal?

Hello, I have a NEX5R. Recently, I save my photos in the mode "RAW+JPEG". I try to get the same JPEG from the RAW thanks to Image Data Converter. For example, if I find the JPEG good but there is something I want to change (for example the white balance), I have to modify the RAW. But when I build a JPEG from the RAW with Image Data Converter, I have a very different result from the JPEG of the camera... So I would like to apply same processing on the RAW file than the camera do, and to...

I have a question regarding the vignetting effect on my Nex 5R camera. I have seen some threads online and some other reviews that talk about the vignetting problem.  Some say that setting your "lens shading" to auto will fix the problem, but I put my setting on auto and this vignetting problem has been persistent. I haven't really noticed the problem until recently.  I am in bright sunlight and there is vignetting all around the images that I take, seen through the Electronic Viewfinder I...

Hi Guys! I've been lurking around the depths of this forum for a while and decided to pull the trigger and get a new camera. Right now Best Buy has a deal for the E-PM2 with the 14-50 & 40-150 bundle, which is the exact same price Future Shop now has the Nex-5R bundle with the 18-55 lens. My question is for the same price, should I go for the less functionality camera with no flip screen and a bit harder to hold camera but with 2 lenses, or should I go for the higher up camera but it only...

I have Sony NEX 5R for almost a year. I like every bit of the camera, especially the colours of the photos that it produces! However, after updating it from firmware 1.00 to 1.02 and did some setting changes according to this post (http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7008349967/nex-5n-recommended-settings ), I started finding photos being too "blue" (never happened before). I know it is an easy fix if you use raw or software but I am not ready to jump to there yet because I am new to...

I got a telescope for Christmas with a T-mount adapter and a Celestron T-Adapter Barlow 1.25". When I attach everything to my camera I can barely distinguish when my camera is pointed at something light and something dark (the LCD screen barely changed). When I attach the camera to the telescope all I see is a black LCD screen. Today I tried focusing on a tree with my telescope, then I attached the camera. All I got was a black screen but I clicked off a series of pictures as I adjusted the...

New Panasonic Lumix GM1 seems very interesting. I am thinking if I should switch from NEX to GM1... I have Sony NEX-5R with SEL 35mm f1.8 and SEL 18-200LE. 35mm is what I normally use. However, I would like something more wide and better for close-ups. Zeiss 24 mm would be ideal, except the price and size. Small size is important to me: I want to take camera with me for my business trips here in Europe. These are usually short trips, 1-2 days. I need to travel light with hand baggage...

I currently own a Nex 3 with the kit 18-55 lens, the 50mm f1.8, and a bunch of old manual lenses (e.g. Minolta 80-200 f4.5). I am considering upgrading to either a 3N or a 5T/R. My major concerns regarding the 3N are the fact that it is not capable of having an external flash and the lack of the new hybrid autofocus. With my existing Nex 3 camera, I have found extremely irritating that the flash is both weak, and cannot bounce. Moreover, it frequently hunts for focus in low light...

My Nex-5R is my first "big boy" camera, and since I've bought it, I've been on the forum here a bit. I've seen a lot of people mention that just about any lens type can be converted (for manual use) to E Mount, making it an attractive option for people who like legacy glass. My question: Why is that? What is it about E Mount that makes it a better target for converters than a lot of other mount types?
