Hi, I'm starting to use my NEX-5 in shooting products with studio strobes. So this puts me in manual mode and often using F8. That makes for difficulty in seeing the subject through the display. Is there a way to open the aperture to compose and such? Adding continuous lights isn't a great option as I would be turning them on and off to overcome additional mixed lighting issues. I could flip back and forth to A mode then back to M but it seems someone might have a better idea. Thanks in...

Hello, I apologize if this been asked too many times. I tried to use the search function but still unable to get final answer. I would like to ask for advices for what mirrorless to get. You see, in my country the price is rather strange, and not all models are available, so I'm rather confused what to choose. I plan to use them for macro, landscape, some birds, and night shot. Here are my options (all price are converted to USD from my country currency):SONY ALPHA SLT A3000 KIT 18-55MM USD...

Hello, I apologise if the question is dumb - I have searched for an answer on the internet but I cannot find the answer. Firstly I would like to note that I am interested in still capture - not video capture. Just to clarify the matter. I know that my NEX-5 (not 5N) has an HDMI port. I would like to know if I can use this to have a live view on a TV while in stills mode and than use the IR remote to take the shot. Basically, I am looking for a way to improve my selfies. ;-) Thanks Marco

Hows it going guys?  Just picked up a NEX-5T to replace my Nikon 1 stuff after having a sensor fail on me.  I have a few questions about the NEX that Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction on.  I take quite a lot of long exposure photos, many times with next to no light available (underground spaces) in which I have to light paint.  With my old Nikon 1 stuff I was actually able to use automatic exposure to obtain a decent shot but it seems the Sony isnt capable of holding the...

Hi I'm thinking seriously about getting the A77II One of the few features I wish it had, but hasn't is a pivoting EVF: I find the pivoting EVF on my NEX-5 very useful when the camera is on a monopod Does anybody know if the FDA-EV1MK EVF which is really meant for RX1 (and supposedly also works on the RX100II) will also work on the A77II to give a 'pivoting EVF' feature on that camera? Many thanks for any answers!

I picked up a Cosinon 135mm f3.5 lens off of ebay for a giggle, spurred on by the "old lenses on my Nex" threads and I guess lost a gamble on a fairly vague advert. I've also just won the PK to E mount adapter which makes this suck a little more - I just wanted a nice prime tele for my Nex5T! Could I get a second opinion on how likely this stuff in the lens is to be fungus? https://i.imgur.com/JREkqgC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mcG0OF9.jpg Top end of the kit lens and I'm an absolute beginner, so...

Hi all,I need some help buying a new camera. This will be my first, more serious camera. For years I used a simple Sony Cybershot compact camera. I want to step up to a more advanced camera now.I want a (relatively small) camera which has the best image quality available for around €500 (I live in the Europe). I want it to shoot nice pictures both in daylight and at night.Because I want it to be small (not necessarily pocketable), I think a mirrorless camera or a high end compact is the way to...

Hi! I have a 9 year old son who shows some interest in photography and videography. Would like to buy a cheap camera for him. Cheap because he will probably break it soon. But tough compacts are too expensive, even old ones, and their photo quality is too bad. I own a full Olympus m4/3 system and I gave him my old Olympus E-P3. It's a very well built camera, it doesn't break if you drop it on asphalt from 4 feet height. But, since it was 3.3 year old it recently stopped working. Shutter...

Just purchased Sony Nex-5t and the bottom of camera gets a little warm when leaving on.  Is the natural?  Have an old Nex-5 and it does not get warm like this.
