I'm looking for purchase recommendations here. I am a furniture maker and need a camera to take quality shots of my pieces but this is going to be my all in one camera so I'm thinking I'd take it back packing occasionally and I generally enjoy photography as a hobby so it would definitely get more use outside my main goal of product shots, but that is the reason I am willing to drop a wad of hard earned cash on a better camera. Its hard to sell a beautiful product on line without beautiful...

I"m thinking about downgrading from my A7r and I'll be using a 14mm rokinon to do architectural and interior photography. I have an A850 and an A3000, and I'm wondering which you guys think would be best suited to the task -- the A3000 has live view, but I'd have to use a lens turbo II (I'd rather not pay a bunch for a speed booster), whereas the A850 does not, but is natively full frame (also, does not look or feel like a toy, which for me is an added bonus). The A850 can bracket w/ flash,...

Hey folks! I'm looking to upgrade to FF. My minor in college (so many years ago) was printmaking. Although I've had a few DSLRs since the film days, I've struggled to find anything in my budget that could compare with the build, VF, and DOF of the Canon F1 and medium format gear I cut my teeth on. I'm also starting from scratch, system-wise. I'm into absolutely minimum ISO landscape work.  I've got it narrowed down to two bodies: Canon 1DSII and Sony A850/A900. I've done a lot of research...

Sony Users, I need to purchase a Sony AC power adapter for long studio shoots with an A850 full-frame camera mounted on tripod, as well for as occasional video shooting with an SLT-A57 on tripod. From what I have researched, both bodies use the the Sony AC-PW10AM adapter. Is there a reason why a genuine Sony AC-PW10AM power adapter costs $75 - $130 US Dollars, while aftermarket brand AC-PW10AM adapter costs less than $15 from numerous online sources? Has anyone experience faulty power issues...

I recently acquired a Sony A850, and am about to purchase a vertical grip for it. I mostly shoot portraits and occasional weddings, and have used both genuine and 3rd party vertical grips for years . . . going back to the old "power winders" for my Minolta X-700 and XD-11 film cameras. What are your experiences with Vertical Grips for Sony cameras, especially the A850. A new 3rd party vertical grip for this camera costs less than a third of the price of a used genuine Sony VG-C90AM grip. . ....

I occasionally shoot studio portraits and weddings with Olympus DSLR bodies, and recently purchased a Sony A850 to supplement my Oly 4/3rds equipment. I have performed limited testing of the A850 with a Minolta Maxxum 35-105 f3.5 and 70-210 f4.5 lens, and was pleasantly surprised with the color and image quality of these older lenses. However, I have a few questions . . . 1. In your experience, how much Sharper are newer lenses that were made with DSLR specs in mind than older Minolta lenses...

I have been shooting portraits for several years, but have never used a Sony DSLR on an assignment. I am about to purchase a used Sony A850, and have a few questions: 1. Is it safe to use older Minolta Maxxum dedicated hotshoe flashes on Sony digital cameras? Or does the voltage warning still apply to Sony DSLRs with Minolta 35mm flashes, too? (For example: Sony A850 with a Minolta 3200i flash . . . Safe or Dangerous?) 2. What firmware updates need to be applied to an older Sony A850 running...
