I heard a lot of praise for the CCD DSLRs such as the E-1, A350, and K100D Super. Some say they have better color rendering some say they have a "film-like look". I'm eager to actually experiment and test as to what these claims actually mean and so am thinking of getting a used 2nd hand DSLR with a CCD sensor. I don't call myself an aviation photographer but I have done a fair bit in the last year. I recently took a trip to the nearest major airport to take these photos, all shot with the 80-400mm AF-S.  I was happy with most, but some look strangely soft. Just wondered what it might be. It seems to happen at the longest end of the zoom. All of these images are straight jpeg conversions, downsized for DPR from NEF files, with no processing at all.
