The A7s has a great low light video Sensor. Problem I have is that for my use it absolutely needs the 28-135 Cine lens and a 4k recorder (I use the 7Q+ to DownRes to 1080P30). It also needs external batteries (I use a L970 battery plate made by small rig). Next year I will not upgrade to the A7s II but hopefully a CamCorder with this Sensor.

OK, so the ergonomics are not as nice as the A7ii, I've had one for a few days now, the A7ii is much more comfortable and i like the control layout much better and the IBIS... What's not to like about in body stabilization? However, if you want (or need) low light nothing else comes close. If you don;t save yourself the money and get a much more user friendly camera and get the A7ii. Not that the A7s is bad, just the A7ii is that much ergonomically better. I'd give it 5 stars and then some if ...

I had been waiting for A7S to drop its price since its release, the A7 and A7R here in Hong Kong second hand body right now only cost around $1000 and $1300 respectively, but A7S? Nope. There is simply no second hand in stores (we have a whole building that sells camera things, lens and bodies etc) and even if it pops up in online trading website, it cost almost as much as the normal price. So anyway, I traded my A6000 and got a A7S new Album link is here: imgur.com/a/QQTMW/ Lens used were: ...

The Sony A7s is one of the newest cameras from Sony and was only released a few months ago. In the A7 range Sony has just released a new version of the A7 called the “A7 II”. This brings new functionality with in camera stabilization and some speed improvements in focusing. However the reason I chose the Sony A7s is because of its unique low light performance. This camera is supposed to be used when capturing photos or video when there is limited light available. I will use it for video in ...

This camera low light capability is out of this world... I think this is a big leap and very smart move from sony to compete against Nikon D4s which is a lot more money..This is the best by far an all around camera paired it with Sony 55mm 1.8 ZA  and you can never go wrong..

Let me preface this review in saying that I'm not a professional nor claim to be, it's just my observations. Like most people I looked at the a7r and the a7s looking at both wistfully, wanting both but knew I could only afford one. I chose the a7s for the following reasons: 1) Low light 2) Focus in low light 3) Video 4) Full Frame 5) Size After a lot of debate I ended up with the a7s mainly for the low light and video. Only 12mp, I could handle that because some of my favorite pictures I've ...

I've been using the A7s for about two months now, and I really wanted to like it. But there are some features which, for me, render this camera at times really unpleasant to use. Let me start with the good things: The A7s is small and light-weight, which next to high iso is one of the main reasons why I chose it, and so it's easy to carry around, and to have with you - at least for a full-frame camera. The image quality is very good. I like the wide dynamic range, the colour reproduction, and ...
