I bought this recently in order to replace a ageing Minolta 28-70mm f/2.8, and have been pleasantly surprised. I really like my older Minolta lens, but its slow and I've owned it for over 20 years. Its heavy, and plenty of high quality glass went into its construction. Its balances well on the A850. The zoom, and focus rings are large very comfortable to use, though they are slightly stiff. This lens is very good. Sharp, quick focussing and has never dissappointed me. However, it is heavy (as all good glass is) and not something you would want to lug around all day.
