Sony E 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS

I have the silver one that came with my NEX-5 and a black one that came with my NEX-7. As for the old Sony 18-70mm A-mount kit zooms, the later ones seem to have slightly better properties (tighter tolerances). Lots of people claim this lens isn't sharp, etc. Well, it actually is quite sharp in the center and the edges come along when stopped down -- so by around f/8 all is quite good. I have never used a more capable kit zoom lens than the SEL1855. Spec wise, the lens seems to be run-of-the-mill, however, the build quality is very consistent with the camera line and is very light. The IQ is substantial for a kit lens. It is sharp wide open and renders colors and micro-tonality better than any kit lens I have ever used, including their latest 18-55VR.
