I've recently moved on from an old Sony NEX C3 to the new A6000. I loved my C3 but I've always kicked myself for not buying the 5 when I had the chance (basically I was mis-sold by a dude who didn't know what he was on about and I hadn't done my research). In any case I've had some fantastic shots from my old C3 but the move to the A6000 has been a learning curve if I'm honest. Whilst I thought they would operate in a similar manner I've found they're quite different *but* I think it's for...

I am a photography novice and am hoping to receive an a6000 for my birthday and need recommendations on lenses to go with the new device. I plan on replacing my old Canon Rebel which had a 18-55mm and a 75-300mm and also my Panasonic AVCHD video camera. I am not sure if I should order the camera kit with the 16-50mm power zoom lens or just the camera body by itself. I hate to pay for a lens that I may never use. I know that I will need several lenses to do all that I want but this is the...

I was on the point to buy a NEX with the 16/2.8 lens when in a review of the Sony 16mm/F2.8 the verdict was "The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 may be a controversial lens on lower resolution NEX cameras. However, it seems rather pointless to use it on the NEX 7 - 24 megapixel are way beyond the capabilities of this tiny lens. The center quality is certainly fine but the outer image region is extremely soft at max. aperture and just barely acceptable around f/8. The native vignetting characteristic of the...

I recently bought a second hand pancake online, and was concerned by the level of blur and distortion. I updated the firmware and that helped to reduce the distortion in the corners however it still refuses to focus on anything further that 30cm from the lens. Is this normal? I've seen other results using the 16 mm an its crystal clear. Could it be a bad lens or am I doing something wrong? I've been shooting in both manual and auto and cant seem to make it any better.  Thanks.

I have owned the 16mm f/2.8 (SEL16F28) lens since I bought my NEX-5N about 18 months ago. I am a complete novice at interchangeable lens cameras and photography. Having said that, I have basically never used the lens, because I could never get photos to look decent. Whenever there is any kind of light, the image around the light looks "fuzzy," or far from sharp.  Recently, I saw some examples of photos taken with this lens on this forum and I was blown away by how good they looked, so I...

Aaaaarghhhh, typed 12 paragraphs, clicked "Post" and - puff, the whole thing disappeared!  Anyway, one of these days, a big decision needs to be made and I might need some help.  I won't retype the whole saga again, so just in short words ... I'm getting wide angle lens for my NEX-6, tossing up between SEL1018 and SEL16F28 with ECU1 adapter. I know all the advantages of 1018 and all disadvantages of the 16mm combo and would love to have 1018, but wondering if there is a point at this price...

Next week my friends' band has concert in some club. Which of the lenses will be the best for this event. I am not sure about the club itself but I can assume it is not so big and probably quite dark. My current lenses are:a) 18-55 kit (F3.5-5.6)b) 55-210 (F4.5-6.3)c) 16 F2.8 pancaked) Sigma 30 F2.8 I have two NEX'es my 5N and C3 of my wife. As I am not comfortable to change lanses on such event so I want to choose 2 lenses one for each of camera.I think that definitly I will take 55-210 as...

I own a Nex 3 with the Sony 50 mm and the Sony 16 mm. I usually shoot on aperture priority mode / auto ISO. When using the 16 mm with this setup, the camera often chooses a speed as low as 1/30 s, while staying at ISO 200. It's ok for landscape, but whenever something is moving on the frame, it will be blurred. Why doesn't it choose a higher ISO / faster speed combination ? ISO 400 or ISO 800 wouldn't hurt much. The solutions I tried weren't really satisfactory. Speed priority : I have to...

Just got a Sony NEX-6 which I have been enjoying. The image quality is top notch though the menus are terrible. (At least coming from Nikon and Canon). One odd thing though came out in a picture taken of my daughter. There some strange artifact on the green part of the shirt. Is this moire? Hopefully you can see it from this crop and the image is not being re-sized by dpreview site.

I apologize in advance if this has been asked/answered.  I've searched Google and here on the forums and couldn't find the answer. I would like to know what size circular ND filter would be big enough so that I would not get any vignetting on the 16mm lens?   As you can see from the picture below I am getting some noticeable vignetting and although not horrible I was hoping someone knew from experience what size filter (with the use of stepup rings) would eliminate this.  As an oh by the way,...
