I like this lens for high-speed pictures of pets and people. The fact that it is 85mm give you some working room. It is amazingly light and flat. When I do the 1/1000 and higher shots, its f/2.8 nature blurs the background very nicely. It is no zoom, but I have sold my old Sigma 70-210 f/2.8 because of these advantages. It also focuses silently and has a nice AF/MF switch for MF situations.

Part of the easy choice range, this lens is great value for money. Nice and sharp when you want it to be, very pleasing bokeh, good length on APS C for more discrete portraits at a distance. This range of lenses comes under fire for its plastic bodies, particularly the plastic mounts - but optical properties are generally excellent and the plastic body is light and compact for an 85mm. Note, this is a full frame lens but works well on APS C including NEX bodies via the official adaptor. Problems:
