Actually i have the Tamron 17-50, and it works beautifuly, it's almost all the time on my A77. But in my country, the Sony 16-50 is selling for $500 new, and i can sell my tamron in $380; so for only $120 i can "Upgrade" to the Sony. I like the weather sealing and SSM of the Sony, also the 16mm vs 17mm it's welcome, because i use my tamron mostly for astro, landscapes and social photos (Here are my photos with the Tamron https://www.flickr.com/photos/biovipah/sets/72157642161320685/ )Do you...

Hi, I was wondering if any of the lucky A77II owners could confirm its compatibility with the Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM lens? Would the lens need any firmware upgrade or some other special treatment to work with the A77II? Will I be able to use the focus peaking feature? Also, I hope I should not expect any problems with my other lens, Sony DT 16-50mm F2.8 SSM, which I got a few months ago? (Well, they sell it together with the A77II, but maybe it's a newer revision?) Thanks for...

Hi, I'm going to use the SAL1650 for a while on my a58. I just did a quick try yesterday and noticed that if I turn the focus ring while the lens swith is still set to AF, there's no focus peaking, even if in the magnified view. I have to set it to manual to get the highlights, just like I would do with other lenses. Is there a way I can get immediate focus peaking whenever I turn the ring? Thanks in advance. --http://www.flickr.com/photos/romainpontida/

Hi guys! I wonder your opinion about using the relatively fast 16-50 f2.8 SSM Sony lens with the A77 camera for action sport photos. I know the camera have crop mode, 1,4x and 2,0. So according to this it can extend the lens zoom range from 50mm to 150mm with a resolution of 6MP at good, usable resolutions. I am an amateur photographer with the possibility to sell Rafting pictures for tourists in the summer time. This is the maximum budget i can spend on a camere for this purpose. My other...

Hi, I know, there have been numerous threads about A7 already, but hey they are the hot topic still today and this is a Sony gear forum so we cannot really cry about it either... I currently own A55 with couple of lenses but most importantly the DT16-50/f2.8. Then also a NEX-C3 with kit lens as well as a few MF Rokkors. I love both combos. I love the versatility of the A55 with the zoom lens for landscape, city sightseeing, indoor photography, etc. I also love the fast manual primes with the...

Hi All - I'm relatively new to DSLRs and photography and would really appreciate some advice here.  I own a Sony A57 and have been using the Sony 18-250mm lens pretty much exclusively over the past 11 months.  I've been learning more about the basics of photography and using the camera lately I noticed some of the limitations of the 18-250 lens.  I tend to take a lot of photos at family gatherings and work social events.  But I find that in lower light (ie dimly lit room), the big lens...

Hi everyone! I just bought the Sony A77 body and now I am going crazy to find out what lens or lenses would be best for me. I originally was considering the sony (or sigma) 50mm 1.4, for low light shooting. The SONY 16-50MM 2.8 for video, as I heard it's a good lens and it has some good range for continued auto focus while recording. And then I also wanted some kind of telephoto, but I dont really want a compromise lens...I have about 2,000 to spend. I was also considering just getting a Carl...

I am coming from using an A100 + 18-200 (5 years) and a GH2 + 7-14 + CZ 21/2.8 (2.5 years). I am passing my Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds stuff to a friend and taking the opportunity to upgrade my system (the A100 is with my father now). I bought the GH2 thinking I would love the smaller size and video, but find that neither was as important to me as I thought. That said, I still have a NEX-5n (wife's, but I use it). I'm not that impressed by the operation of it, but I love the output...

Hi all, I'm new to the NEX world - and the whole lenses thing (so please be patient with me!) :-DI just ordered a NEX6 with the 1650 lens. I was thinking of ordering the 18200LE to go with it (at the moment the lens is down to approx $570 at my local store, so figured it could be a good deal - is it? I have read mixed reviews, but from what I can see there's not much difference between the original and the LE - I would not use it for video). Would this be a good general purpose lens?I had...
