Like other Mavica FD-series cameras, the FD88 is an anomaly that blends excellent optics with a low-pixel (1.3MP) processor and a slow, noisy (and occasionally unreliable) floppy-disk storage medium. Despite its limitations, the floppy disk technology Sony utilized in its FD series is a great part of the longstanding appeal of these cameras. Overall, the FD88 is excellent for web pages, online postings and other uses where its remarkable zoom lens (8X optical) and good macro capabilities ...

This is my 2nd Mavica. I photograph female feet as a hobby in addition to landscape and normal photography. I find the features on this camera to be easy to use. The quality of the photos is very good. The 3.5 floppy feature is what I like the best about this camera. I wear glasses and find the LCD view finder is easy to use also. I'm currently looking into getting a Mavica FD-92 also. I like the idea of having either memory card or 3.5 storage option. Problems: The flash can be touchy. ...

have had this camera a couple years and have taken thousands of photos. mostly plants and nature and mostly close up. simple to use. many options i didn't ever use. it is "obsolete" now but it does more than most users will ever use. should be some available used at 2-300$ will make a terrific camera at that price. Problems: image difficult ti see in bright light. back lighting makes it great to see in low light.

I don't like this camera. I'm a graphic artist taking photos of liquour and wine. I don't have any special lights-just the overhead fluorescents. Not being a photographer, I might just be doing something wrong. The pictues are too dark, there's a color cast, and they are too fuzzy. Text comes out awful Problems: too fuzzy

I've had this camera for two years. I am not good at remembering to to take the pictures! When I do, I am very pleased with the images that this camera produces. I do a yearly calendar for Christmas gifts, using this camera for some of the images. The images I use, are very great. I have resently added a wide angle lens to the camera, think that is going to be very niffty. Problems: Taking all those disks are alittle trouble some .But that is also why I bought this camera, so I could use ...

I have had this camera for a couple of years - It was my second digital camera purchase when I opicked it up for $275 american. It is the digital camera that everyone wishes they had bought! The images are not comparable to the new megapixel jobs on the market but it has ease of use, acceptable image quality, email features, fast transfer of images to computer, MPEG movie mode for sending nifty little videos to friends & relatives as overiding plus elements. I cannot say enough about the joy ...

I have had this camera for two years now and find it much more useful even than my nikon pro gear. I even used it to photograh a 180 page antique book for a client with excellent results. Problems: I would be interested to know why the memory stick/floppy does not work on this model.

My first digital camera was a Mavica FD 7. I have chosen Mavica because of the floppy disk, and I'm sure I made a great choice. Nowadays I have another Mavica - FD 88. I like it very much as I can get photos and also movies. Problems: Only one problem makes me be angry: sometimes it takes a long time to record the file. Mavica FD 7 and FD 71 (I have tried both) were faster. I can't understand why.
